Prof Stephen Brown and Prof Danie Buys are experienced Paediatric Cardiologists from Bloemfontein with more than 31 years of experience in their field. They are most passionate about changing the quality of life of children and their families.

Their practice is well-known for warm, friendly and compassionate Paediatric Cardiology and for providing services to public and private health care patients.

According to Prof Brown, many children born with heart lesions require early referral. When doctors detect this in the neonatal unit, they can easily carry out urgent life saving procedures on children.

The Kids at Heart Inc. private practice was established in 2010 by Prof Stephen Brown and Prof Danie Buys and is based at Universitas Academic Hospital. They diagnose and treat children with heart conditions before they are born, through childhood and into adulthood. Their patients are infants and children with complex diagnostic and medical problems.

They are part of multiple outreach clinics in Central South Africa. With mobile outreach units, specialists can reach rural communities to deliver comprehensive Paediatric Cardiology services to children and diagnose heart defects in babies who would otherwise have had to travel extensively to get paediatric care.
